Delta State Government on Sunday lambasted former governor of Edo State, Adams Oshiomhole, for saying the All Progressives Congress, APC, would takeover Delta State in 2019.
Oshiomhole, had during a mega rally of the APC held at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium in Benin, on Friday, said the ruling APC would install an APC governor in Delta State.
Oshiomhole reportedly said, “Together, we will sweep whatever is left out of Edo State and Delta. Comrades, we have secured Edo State, now we must advance to Delta.
“In the spirit of Bendel, which was governed by the late Samuel Ogbemudia, we must carry more brooms to Asaba and sweep all the way to Warri and install an APC governor in Asaba, so that the resources of Asaba can be used for the benefit of Deltans.”
Reacting, Delta State Commissioner for Information, Patrick Ukah, condemned Oshiomhole’s choice of words.
He advised the former governor to leave Delta and PDP alone and worry about the failure of the Buhari-led APC government.
“The choice of words, especially the use of ‘by installing’ by the former labour leader is a manifestation of his limited knowledge of politics as against unionism where he claims to be a master,” Ukah noted.
“We’re surprise that Comrade Oshiomhole, who is a leader of a party that has brought untold hardship to Nigerians, will be talking of installing a governor in a state that is not his own, instead of suggesting ways of how to make living bearable for Nigerians.
“With the numerous developmental projects going on in various parts of the state, Deltans are satisfied with the performance of the present administration and this was made manifest by the resounding victory recorded by the Peoples’ Democratic Party in the recently conducted local government election in Delta State. “
Ukah urged Oshiomhole to help the President Muhammadu Buhari-led APC government to save Nigeria from the hardship being faced by Nigerians rather than saving his energy to pursue an election he would never win in Delta.
“We advised the former Governor to first join hands with others in his party to put their house in order by conducting a successful national convention that is long overdue instead of engaging in a wild goose chase.”
