Manchester United’s board members have regretted signing Alexis Sanchez from Arsenal in January, according to El Pais.
The Red Devils swooped in to capture Sanchez ahead of rivals Manchester City in the winter window, in a move that saw Henrikh Mkhitaryan joining the Gunners.
Since moving to United, the 29-year-old has not yet made a huge impression on the team, having scored just once in seven appearances in all competitions.
The club’s hierarchy feel that the player would have been much cheaper in the summe, when his contract at Arsenal expired.
In addition, it is believed that sections of the club have questioned his high wages amid concerns of unrest within the squad, in particular Paul Pogba, who allegedly wants a pay rise.
They are also not comfortable with Sanchez’s age, with the feeling that the Chilean only has a few years left at this level.
