Trends From GTBank Fashion Weekend

At this time last week, the 2017 GTBank Fashion Weekend was in full swing. We got to see some of the biggest designers from across the world showcase their vibrant and electrifying designs on the runway. This season’s collections were buzzing with a fresh take on some of our favourite style trends.

Shine bright

Sparkly things were a constant on both days of the event. We saw shiny leather jackets embellished to the last inch and even a dress that glowed in the dark. That’s some extra shine to complement your glowing skin.

Art meets Fashion

Models walked in designs that made one imagine Picasso painting away on finished outfits, from the Egyptian face on a dress by Weiz Dhurm Franklyn to other graphic designs.

Pretty patterns

Designers offered a cacophony of prints and patterns, keeping things lively for next season. Florals were bolder and more daring than ever. Plaid also emerged as one standout print of the season for everyone.

Fringe

The shimmying continues as fringe seems to be going nowhere. Now, it’s even more playful and over-the-top than ever.

Paint the town black

Black is the new black. Other colours like orange and khaki trying to upstage black can take a seat because it is now a must-have colour. From leather jackets to flashy metallics on oversized sweaters, black has proven to be the IT-colour for next season.

Bra tops and high slits

We saw bra tops, a cross between a crop top and a bra, making a huge statement at the catwalks. Designers like LaQuan Smith put a number of models in this look on the runway. And it’s time to prep your lovely legs for high, high slits.

Long, long sleeves

Long sleeves looked so stylish on the runway. Now, there’s no need to feel weird if the sleeves go well past your wrists. It’s in vogue!

Bold pieces and cuts

Our designers have shown that they are not afraid to take risks, playing with unique cuts and pieced-together constructions.

Sheer overlays

We saw styles with sheer overlays, even for the guys, providing a nonchalant sense of cool.
